David Rivera

David Rivera

I’m David Rivera, and I was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in a community enriched by immigrants for over a century. After earning my B.A. in History and Education from Fordham University in New York, I followed my passion for the law and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Howard University School of Law in 1978.

For over 40 years now, I’ve dedicated my life to advocating for immigrants and refugees in Washington, D.C. I’ve worked for law firms, non-profit organizations, and as a solo practitioner in my private practice, representing clients from all over the world. Whether I’m appearing before Citizenship and Immigration Services officers, State Department Consular Officers, or Immigration Court Judges across the country, I’m known for my unwavering commitment to my clients and their families.

One of my proudest achievements is my record in reversing Visa Revocations recommendations and having such cases returned to Consular Officials for final processing. I recall one particular case involving a couple who attended their initial Consular Interview with their newborn baby in their arms. Despite the fact that the couple had a child together, the recommendation for revocation failed to mention this crucial detail. Thanks to my tireless efforts, justice was served, and the family was reunited.

Over the course of my career, I’ve handled hundreds of cases and earned the respect and admiration of my colleagues in the Bar and Bench. But to me, the most rewarding aspect of my work is the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of those I serve. Whether you’re a recent immigrant or you’ve been in the United States for years, I want you to know that I’m here to help you every step of the way.
